The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are in Kansas City this week to compete against the Chiefs in the final preseason game. Given the conservative approaches that both head coaches have during preseason play, expect most or all of the key players for both teams to sit on the bench.
NFL prediction markets are experiencing somewhat of a preseason slump this week, with trading volume on Kalshi markets slightly down compared to last week. The 2026-27 NFL regular season can’t arrive soon enough for fans and forecasters alike.
We like the Chiefs to win this preseason game in front of their home crowd at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs’ contracts on Kalshi are reasonably priced at 52 cents apiece, which has prompted us to pick up a few of them ahead of Friday night’s matchup.
This year’s preseason has featured relatively low scoring across the board, which has moved the “totals” markets all the way down to 36.5 points per game. We’re a lot more enthusiastic about picking up “over” contracts on point totals that are so low, even if low scoring has been a recurring trend so far this year.
Most NFL teams would prefer to play their late regular-season games in weather conditions that are only present during the preseason. By kickoff, the temperature should be hovering around 80 degrees. It will fall into the 70s by the second half. It could be freezing at Arrowhead by December, so any fans who want to watch a Kansas City home game without having to wear multiple layers of clothing will want to do so during the first weeks of the regular season.
The Seahawks will open the 2026-27 NFL regular season at Lumen Field against the New England Patriots in what will essentially be a Super Bowl rematch. That game is set for Wednesday night, September 9th. The Chiefs will likewise play their Week 1 regular-season game at home against the Denver Broncos for Monday Night Football, September 14th.
Total trading volume for this game on Kalshi has yet to reach $15,000. Forecasters are obviously waiting until the regular season begins and opting to trade on MLB markets until then. Look for the “over” of 36.5 points to win the day until that figure trends upward in the coming days.
A traditional final score of 20-17 is enough to cover the “over” for the total points market that’s currently available on Kalshi. Those who are NFL+ subscribers in the US will be able to watch the Chiefs take on the Seahawks this Friday night from the comfort of their own homes.
