The Dallas Cowboys (2-3) are coming off a disappointing loss at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who were winless at the time. It was a game highlighted by ill-advised turnovers, something that has been typical with the Cowboys of late. With extended rest coming off Thursday Night Football, the hope for Dallas is that they can bounce back.
It won’t be an easy matchup, as they’re headed to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers (3-2), who are coming off an impressive blowout at home over the division rival Chicago Bears. Both wideouts Christian Watson and Matthew Golden continue to make an impact for the Packers this year.
This is a projected shootout in a primetime game, so it should be an exciting matchup. With that in mind, let’s dive into the best prediction markets to see where the best value in NFL trades is for this one.
The Packers are priced at 53 cents to win this game. Green Bay is only favored by 1.5 points, priced at 50 cents. This feels a bit low because they’re at home, but it makes sense when you consider the Packers’ offensive line issues, running game inefficiency, and the fact that the Cowboys are on extended rest.
It profiles as a letdown spot for Green Bay after they were able to blow out the Bears. The problems still exist for the Packers, as they’re a mostly one-dimensional offense without Josh Jacobs in their backfield.
Even though we’re likely to see a high-scoring game, the total feels a bit too high at 52.5 points. We’re going to choose a side in this one.
I’m going with Packers win by over 1.5 points: No, which is priced at 51 cents.
For one, the Cowboys are in a bounce-back spot after a disappointing loss, while the Packers are in a letdown spot following an impressive win.
On top of that, the Cowboys have two extra days of rest because their last game was on Thursday Night Football. I also like how Dallas brought in Mike Pettine as senior defensive assistant this past week. Pettine was a good defensive coordinator and has head coaching experience.
The Cowboys have struggled on defense, but there is enough talent here to improve, including impressive rookie Caleb Downs and stud defensive lineman Quinnen Williams. With the Packers continuing to struggle in the running game, we could see their offense be one-dimensional here, making it tough to keep pace with the high-powered Cowboys.
As one of the NFL prediction markets with the most volume since it’s Sunday Night Football, we can see some market movement here. Back on October 11th, the Cowboys were favored at 53 cents, but after the Packers blew out the Bears and Dallas lost to Tampa, it’s not surprising to see Green Bay now at 53 cents. With that said, with extended rest and a new coaching hire on defense, I’m riding with the Cowboys here.
