NFL prediction markets have experienced a massive spike in trading activity over the past 48 hours, as Kalshi traders push preseason game markets into a seven-figure stratosphere ahead of the 2026-27 NFL regular season.

Once Week 1 begins, 32 NFL teams across eight divisions will be vying for a home playoff game, which is guaranteed to each division champion. In the NFL South, the race is projected to be close, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the most likely team to recapture the division in January and host a postseason game at Raymond James Stadium.

Why the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the NFC South frontrunner

On paper, each NFC South team is roughly equal in terms of roster talent. However, the return of head coach Todd Bowles and quarterback Baker Mayfield give the Buccaneers a leg up on the competition due to the chemistry they have built up from past seasons.

Tampa Bay is currently priced at 34¢ per contract on Kalshi to win the division, which is an appropriate price, in our view. Wide receiver Chris Godwin, Jr. and running back Bucky Irving are back for another season on offense, while Antoine Winfield, Jr. returns to lead the Buccaneers’ defense at safety.

What about the rest of the division?

Traders aren’t buying that former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young will be able to lead the Carolina Panthers to another NFC South Division title. The Panthers’ contract price has dropped to 21¢, putting them just ahead of the Atlanta Falcons, who are trading at 19¢ per contract.

The Falcons have taken a significant risk in bringing quarterback Tua Tagovailoa into the fold to compete for the top spot against Michael Penix, Jr. Both have a history of health issues. Tagovailoa has been chronically plagued by concussions while Penix, Jr. has yet to be tested following the torn ACL he suffered back in 2025.

That leaves the New Orleans Saints, who have a contract price of 29¢ on Kalshi to come away with the NFC South title. The Saints finished fourth in the division last year following a disappointing 6-11 season, but are looking to rebound with second-year QB Tyler Shough, who performed admirably as a rookie.

Week 1 NFC South Matchups

The Buccaneers will be in action Sunday afternoon, September 13th, to take on the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium, while the Saints travel to Ford Field to open their regular season against the Detroit Lions. The Falcons will be playing simultaneously against the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

The Carolina Panthers will be the only NFC South team to open its regular season campaign at home. The Panthers have a Week 1 matchup at Bank of America Stadium against the Chicago Bears. In somewhat of a rare twist, the Week 1 regular season results for all four NFC South teams will be in the books before the late afternoon games have concluded.

Kalshi NFL markets for the regular season are already open. Traders located in the United States can join Kalshi and start forecasting in less than five minutes upon registering for a new account.
