The No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes have won two in a row after a tough loss to Texas in Week 2, coming off a pair of blowout wins over Kent State and Illinois. Up next is a more challenging road game against the No. 14 Iowa Hawkeyes.
Iowa just secured an impressive 20-19 road win over Michigan. The Hawkeyes have proven to be able to keep opposing offenses at bay. They’ve held their opponents to 19 points or fewer in each of their four games, including two shutouts.
With that in mind, this should be an intriguing college football matchup between two of the best teams in the country. Let’s take a look at what’s trending on prediction markets for this matchup.
Ohio State is priced 85 cents to win this game, even though they’re on the road. This makes a lot of sense because they’re one of the clear-cut top-two teams in the country. Many are projecting the Buckeyes to make it or even win the National Championship.
But there’s obviously no value in buying into Ohio State to win outright here, so we have to take a look at other markets to get a bit more creative in our trades for this game.
Looking at the point spread, we have Ohio State to win by 14.5 points at 49 cents, but I don’t like that it’s above the key number of 14. I would have preferred to get it at -13.5, where a common score line like 28-14 would be enough to get it done. But since it’s past that key number, we’re going to pass on the point spread.
Instead, we’re going to take a shot on Ohio State Over 30.5 Points: No, which is priced at 52 cents. This is a high bar, even for the Buckeyes. Yes, they’re a high-powered offense, but the Hawkeyes have done a terrific job keeping opponents off the scoreboard. As mentioned above, they’ve allowed 19 points or fewer in all four of their games.
We’ve seen Ohio State score 42+ points in three of their four games, but only 23 vs. Texas. I”ll take my chances that Iowa can keep them at bay in this one.
The outright winner price has remained around 85 cents for Ohio State to win here, so there hasn’t been much change in that regard. But I have noticed that the spread is -14.5 here, while it’s -13.5 or -14 elsewhere, so there has clearly been movement towards the Buckeyes side at Kalshi.
