If we looked at this game on a college football schedule two weeks ago, we’d expect much of what we’ll see in Ann Arbor this coming Saturday afternoon. There will be a capacity crowd in attendance, Wolverine fans will be wearing bright yellow as part of a “maize-out” tradition, and the game will be televised on Fox.
But college football experts and prediction market traders alike were shocked by last week’s miracle, last-second victory that Michigan pulled off against the lowly Western Michigan Broncos. So, will the No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners end the Wolverines’ Cinderella attempt at an undefeated season this weekend? Kalshi forecasters think the Sooners are two-to-one favorites to do just that.
To say there haven’t already been consequences to Michigan’s Hail Mary Week 1 victory would be misguided. Michigan is a mere footnote in the most recent AP Top 25 poll, coming in at No. 28 among Division 1 schools, just a few spots ahead of the team that nearly derailed its CFP hopes last Saturday.
The Wolverines’ “to win” contracts against the Sooners, priced at 49¢ on the morning of September 5th, have fallen all the way down to 34¢ as starter Bryce Underwood enters a quarterback competition he had no idea he’d be a part of when the regular season began.
Still, we’d like Oklahoma’s sky-high contract prices to come down a tad before committing to a game-winner trade. Instead, we’re opting to purchase the “over” 43.5 total points scored contracts that are available on Kalshi right now. They’re listed at 50¢ and should cover both of the most likely (if not contrasting) outcomes: Bryce Underwood has a great “comeback” game or Oklahoma dominates the action and trounces the “wannabe” Wolverines.
Everyone is still talking about the 13-12 final score between Michigan and WMU. That’s the main story.
For the Sooners, they easily won their Week 1 contest against the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Their 51-0 stomping of the Miners in Norman marked the beginning of what Oklahoma fans hope will culminate in the school’s first CFP appearance since 2025, when it lost its opening postseason game against the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 34-24.
Oklahoma is presented with an unanticipated, paradoxical challenge against Michigan this weekend: the Sooners can be successful in a game they’re supposed to win or drop a game they weren’t supposed to lose.
One final point: look for Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham to be at the ready if Bryce Underwood underperforms early in this Saturday’s game. The Wolverines could very well have a new quarterback to lead the rest of the season by early in the second quarter.
Prediction app account holders aren’t going to find an Oklahoma v Michigan market that shifts more than the “moneyline” trade has already moved. The time for savvy traders to get in on Kalshi’s “winner” market for this game was midway through the Week 1 contest against WMU, before the clock (seemingly) ran out on the Wolverines.
Forecasters who are predicting a Michigan victory Saturday afternoon would be well served to pick up the corresponding 34¢ contracts now, before a potential Bryce Underwood touchdown feeds the frenzy in the opposite direction. Kickoff is scheduled for noon Eastern Time on Fox. Attendance is projected to be around 107,000 at “The Big House” by kickoff. Trading volume is already over $1 million on Kalshi.
