The 2026 calendar year has marked a surge in trading activity linked to official IPO announcements on prediction market apps. The recent launch of Kalshi’s Public Companies Hub has served to further pique the interest of forecasters who are anxiously awaiting an IPO for entities that remain private.

Kraken, Discord, and OpenAI have all stated that they plan to announce an IPO by 2027 at the very latest. Below we’ll take a look at what Kalshi traders think about the specific IPO timelines for these three companies.

Kraken sets Q2 2027 target for IPO announcement

Traders have already caught on to official communications from Kraken executives, which target a potential Q2 2027 IPO announcement. Crypto-market sentiment has significantly cooled since this time last year. This has prompted Kraken to hold off on announcing an Initial Public Offering until midway through next year at the earliest.

Kraken doesn’t have a standalone IPO page on Kalshi, but is included in the “IPO this year” market, where its “yes” contracts are currently selling for 11¢ each. The low price for the digital asset trading platform is an acknowledgment that most forecasters have already factored in the reasons why Kraken is likely to wait until 2027 to go public.

Discord is waiting for the right moment to go public

While Discord is exploring an Initial Public Offering, its timeline has likewise been set back by macroeconomics and tech-market volatility. The company may also want to wait until the “Make IPOs Great Again” agenda takes hold within the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Discord’s window for announcing an IPO has its own market on Kalshi, with many forecasters establishing February 1st, 2027, and March 1st, 2027, as the “over/under” dates. With roughly $134,000 in total trading volume, contracts on Discord formally announcing an IPO before February 1st are priced at 57¢ each.

There are a few “yes” contracts on the limit order book that are similarly priced for a March 1st target date, but those could soon disappear.

When will OpenAI announce its IPO?

OpenAI has a thriving IPO-announcement market on Kalshi that has already attracted more than $1.36 million in standalone trading volume. The company’s accelerated approach to achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) in the near future has made it a mainstay story in the tech industry.

OpenAI CEO and ChatGPT co-creator Sam Altman has made it clear that he wants the private firm to go public soon. However, an official IPO announcement may be pushed back to 2027 to make time for a potential trillion-dollar valuation.

Traders who are looking to win a longshot trade can pick up “yes” contracts on OpenAI announcing an IPO at some point in 2026 at 16¢ apiece. More conservative traders can find “yes” contracts on an IPO before March 1st, 2027, available for 42¢. Individual “by this time” markets settle once a new month begins, and trading could increase to over $2 million in the coming months as OpenAI’s inevitable IPO announcement draws closer.
