With just three races remaining until a 2026 NASCAR Cup Series champion is determined, prediction app forecasters are shifting their focus into high gear ahead of this weekend’s YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.
Mathematically, a dozen drivers still remain in contention to take home the NASCAR Cup Series trophy, but current fifth-place driver Ryan Blaney sits atop the Kalshi “winner” market with a contract price of 9¢ to take the checkered flag at Talladega this Sunday.
Given Talladega’s extreme 33-degree banking in the turns and Blaney’s exceptional reputation as a draft tactician, it’s little wonder why sports prediction markets are backing the Cortland, Ohio, native. Blaney drives for Advance Auto Parts and added to his point total by placing second at the Phoenix Raceway last week.
While many fans may (accurately) believe that time is running out for the 32-year-old to claim his second NASCAR Cup Series win in four years, a win this Sunday would catapult him to a total of at least 2,385 points in the standings with just two races to go.
We like the 9¢ contracts on Ryan Blaney to win at Talladega and ignite a fierce battle for who will win this year’s championship. He has undeniable momentum, three victories so far this season, and millions of dollars in incentives to come away with the win.
The near-perfect weather conditions in Lincoln this Sunday promise to attract a packed crowd of racing fans. Ticket prices for grandstand seats are approaching $200 for some of the better spots. Wristbands for entry into the infield camping grounds can still be purchased for $135 leading up to this weekend, but those prices could soar on secondary ticket outlets.
At 500 miles long, the Talladega Superspeedway will require drivers to complete 188 laps and avoid “The Big One,” which could instantly shift not only the prospects for this specific race but also the final standings.
Racing fans nationwide can tune in to live coverage starting at 1:00 p.m. Central Time on NBC. Live streamers will want to subscribe to Peacock before the race begins to ensure they catch all the action.
Kyle Larson’s ill-timed DNF performance last week in Avondale halted what had, until that point, been one of the most remarkable playoff stretches in NASCAR history. That has caused his contracts to plummet all the way down to 5¢ apiece leading into this weekend.
Don’t expect those prices to hold, though. Prediction market traders who are still picking Larson to win the NASCAR Cup Series will want to buy his “yes” contracts for the YellaWood 500 before Sunday morning. By that time, Larson’s contracts could be going for as much as Blaney’s are currently selling for.
Preliminary trading volume for the YellaWood 500 on Kalshi is more than $330,000 already. The market will almost certainly hit $1 million before the main race begins.
