Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has dominated the headlines all offseason.

But he’s still a free agent.

In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Diggs boldly claimed that he’d be the best wide receiver No. 2 in the entire NFL.

"My opinion, I can compete with anybody," Diggs said in a video posted last week to his YouTube channel. "But take those [top wide receivers] as your 1s, right? You can't name a No. 2 better than me."

As the late, great Lee Corso used to say… “Not so fast my friend.”

At one time, Diggs was among the elite wide receivers in the NFL. While he’s still capable of production, and certainly deserves to be on a roster ahead of training camps opening at the end of July, he’s wildly off base with this statement.

Last year, in 17 starts with the New England Patriots, Diggs caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.

Let’s find a few No. 2 wide receivers who are better than the 32-year-old.

Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals

Let’s start with the most obvious one.

The Bengals really have two No. 1 wide receivers in Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, who is a top player at his position and has been since he entered the league.

While Higgins hasn’t eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in his last three years, he’s caught over 20 touchdowns in the last two seasons. His big, physical frame and knack for the end zone make him a better WR2 than Diggs, especially when you factor in that he’s only 27.

Higgins could be poised for a big season as long as Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow can remain healthy.

Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions

Williams is coming off of back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons and has scored 15 touchdowns to start his career in Detroit.

At just 25, there’s almost zero chance the Lions would prefer Diggs over Williams, who is one of the more promising players at his position in the entire league.

George Pickens, Dallas Cowboys

Pickens is so good that he might not even be a WR2 for too much longer. Somebody is going to pay him following this season with the Cowboys on the franchise tag.

He popped off during his first season in Dallas, catching 93 passes for just under 1,500 yards and nine touchdowns. In fantasy football? He was the top-ranked wide receiver, even ahead of CeeDee Lamb, who missed points of the season due to a high ankle sprain and concussion.
