Report: J.R. Smith Was Suspended For Throwing Soup At Cavs Assistant Coach
credits: Jason Miller | source: Getty Images The Cavaliers announced a surprise one-game suspension for J.R. Smith Thursday night before their 108-97 loss to the 76ers, and now that “detrimental conduct” has come to light. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Dave McMenamin, Smith threw a bowl of soup at Cavs assistant coach Damon Jones, and it would’ve taken me a hundred thousand guesses to get to that.
Unfortunately, Windhorst and McMenamin don’t specify the type of soup Smith threw, or whether it was hot. The intent doesn’t really make a difference, since throwing soup at someone is rude as hell regardless of its temperature, but hopefully Jones wasn’t scalded by some chicken noodle.
