Reports: Texans To Hire Penn State's Bill O'Brien
According to Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen, the Texans and Bill O'Brien are working on an agreement to make Joe Paterno's replacement Gary Kubiak's replacement as well.
The Texans travelled to O'Brien's Cape Cod home after Christmas to interview the imminently-former Penn State coach and things went so well both parties ramped up discussions and hope for a contract soon.
O'Brien has been waiting for the right NFL job since he arrived in Happy Valley and it seems he has finally found one. Before the wheels fell off the wagon for Matt Schaub, this was a legitimate Super Bowl contender and is still a great roster to be handed as a first-time head coach.
What's a contract without consideration though, right? The Texans would get a gift of their own, what with the reduced NFL buyout O'Brien negotiated with Penn State earlier this summer. Instead of the original $19.33 million buyout, the Texans would only have to fork over $6.48 million should they reach a deal.
