June 1, 2022; Paris, France; Iga Swiatek (POL) writes Getting old but still fresh on the tv screen after her match against Jessica Pegula (USA) on day 11 of the French Open at Stade Roland-Garros. Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports Warner Bros. Discovery networks will broadcast the French Open in the United States beginning in 2025, securing the rights with a 10-year deal, multiple outlets reported.
The Athletic reported the agreement is worth $650 million.
NBC long has broadcast the tournament, which ends Sunday with the men's final between No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and No. 4 Alexander Zverev of Germany.
The shift comes amid criticism from fans, frustrated by trying to find the tournament on TV over the past two weeks. A few late-round matches have been on NBC, many streamed on Peacock and most were shown on Tennis Channel. Some matches have started on one network and moved to another mid-contest.
Warner Bros. Discovery has TNT Sports among its lineup of channels, which include TNT and TBS.
TNT airs a number of sports broadcasts, including the NCAA Tournament and the NBA. It recently made a deal with ESPN to carry some first-round and college football playoff games.
Currently, TNT is negotiating with the NBA to keep its package of games.
