Rockies Grounds Crew Member Trapped Under Tarp, No One Notices
Last night, just three weeks after the Royals grounds crew nearly lost one to the tarp, the rain delay at the Mets-Rockies game carved a new swathe of destruction at Coors Field. There were no men lost; only a hero made.
It's the commentary that makes this clip so great: "Good job by the grounds crew, they got that tarp on in a very short period of time," the SNY announcers announce, unaware that a human is trapped underneath. When they finally see him attempting to crawl out, one remarks that it "looks like my cat when it's under the bed." Okay, then.
Quality work by the Rockies' grounds crew, which knows that every once in a while, you just have to take one for the team. But in our hearts, nothing will ever top the great tarp fail of the 1993 Marlins.
