Scot Pollard Thinks Phil Jackson Is Overrated
Yes, that Scot Pollard. Not some forgotten 1950s player coincidentally named Scot Pollard who quietly racked up championships with Minneapolis and Fort Wayne, but Kansas Scot Pollard, funny hair Scot Pollard.
Pollard went on the radio yesterday and had to get something off his chest.
I just think he's one of the most overrated coaches of our time. He's only had the greatest players of our era on his teams. Put him in charge of the Sacramento Kings this year, and I don't mean to offend Sacramento fans, but put him on a team with no Hall-Of-Famers on it at least no one that has established themselves as a Hall-Of-Famer already, put him as the Head Coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers right now and let's see how he does next year with no Hall-Of-Famers on the team.
First of all, that's insulting to Boobie Gibson and we won't stand for it. But this isn't a new criticism of Phil Jackson, who's known as much for abandoning sinking ships as he is for jumping aboard at the right time. It's clear Pollard prefers coaches who can win rings without good players on their team, like Doc Rivers who did it in 2008 with no-names like Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Scot Pollard.
