Sepp Blatter's "Council of Wisdom" May Include...Placido Domingo?

Previously in our Sepp Blatter is a loathsome historical figure series, we likened the Swiss dictator of FIFA to a wicked American president and a murderous Chilean general. But where does one go with the news that Blatter now wants a Spanish opera star to help him clean up corruption in FIFA? This is no joke:
LONDON (AP) - FIFA President Sepp Blatter says he has asked opera great Placido Domingo to join a new committee intended to help clean up world football's governing body.
Blatter hopes the 70-year-old Spanish tenor will sit on a "council of wisdom" alongside former U.S. secretary of state Henry Kissinger and former Netherlands player Johan Cruyff.
Blatter told CNN on Monday that "these gentlemen are more or less advisers, they are not the experts."
The image of Placido Domingo and Henry Kissinger huddled over a pot of fondue charting a scandal-free future for FIFA defies all reason. It's pure crazy. Why not just throw Rick Astley in the mix? Perhaps Blatter is thumbing his nose at the world. If so, you've got to admire his sense of humor. If not, it's now safe to say the following: Sepp Blatter is not only the Richard Nixon and Augusto Pinochet of international soccer but also the sport's Baron Scarpia.
