Virtual Gaming Worlds (VGW) is preparing to close LuckyLand Sweeps Casino, bringing an end to one of the more recognizable names in the sweepstakes gaming sector. The company confirmed that the platform will be phased out over several weeks before shutting down completely on Sept. 14, 2026.
The move marks the end of a near-eight-year run for the LuckyLand brand’s slots-focused platform. While the closure affects LuckyLand Sweeps Casino, VGW said its other products, including Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Casino, and Global Poker, will continue to operate.
The closure will take place in multiple stages rather than through an immediate shutdown. The first milestone arrives on Aug. 3, when players will no longer be able to purchase Gold Coin packages. Existing account balances can still be used after that date.
On Aug. 24, gameplay on the platform will come to an end. Players will no longer be able to access or play casino-style games, although eligible Sweeps Coins may still be redeemed during the final redemption period
The final deadline is Sept. 14. Once that date arrives, prize redemption requests will close permanently and access to the platform will be removed. Any remaining redemption opportunities will end at that point.
Industry observers have speculated for months that LuckyLand Sweeps Casino could eventually be retired following the launch of LuckyLand Casino in late 2025. The newer platform expanded beyond slot games and introduced additional casino-style offerings under the same brand umbrella.
VGW previously indicated that it was evaluating the future of the original LuckyLand Slots platform after introducing the newer product. Several reports also pointed to licensing and branding changes that appeared to signal a transition toward LuckyLand Casino as the company’s primary LuckyLand-branded offering.
The introduction of additional brands and products has also suggested a broader restructuring of VGW’s sweepstakes gaming portfolio. The company has continued adjusting its operations while facing changing regulatory conditions in several U.S. jurisdictions.
Players still using LuckyLand Sweeps Casino should pay close attention to the shutdown schedule. Coin purchases will stop first, followed by gameplay, before all redemption activity ends in mid-September. Missing any of the established deadlines could result in lost access to the platform.
The company has also indicated that Gold Coins associated with LuckyLand Sweeps Casino will not be transferable to other VGW-operated platforms. As a result, players will need to use or manage any remaining balances within the designated closure period.
The shutdown represents one of the most notable brand retirements in the sweepstakes casino sector this year. For longtime users, it closes the chapter on a platform that helped popularize slots-focused sweepstakes gaming while highlighting how operators continue to adapt through new products and evolving business strategies.
