Patriots Accuse Texans Of Tampering Due To Their Courtship Of Nick Caserio
The Houston Texans fired GM Brian Gaine last Friday and are looking for a replacement. They tried to convince Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio to come work for them, and all that accomplished is accusations of tampering....
The Chicago Bears' Kickers Are In Hell
The Chicago Bears have been trying all sorts of methods to move on from January’s season-ending double-doink. Nothing seems to be working....
Bill O'Brien's Going To Get His Way In Houston No Matter How Many GMs It Takes
From the outside, it sure looked like Brian Gaine was doing a good job. When he was hired as Texans GM in January of 2018, the Texans’ roster was so expensive and such a mess that they were giving away draft picks just to get rid of some of their worst contracts. Despite that, he signed Tyrann Mathi...
The Eagles Have Everything Set Up
The Eagles showed they were committed to Carson Wentz in February, when they let Nick Foles take his dick somewhere else. And by signing Wentz to a four-year extension two years before they had to, as the Eagles did Thursday night, they showed too that they’re all-in on him....
This Hail Mary Replay Tweak Will Go Over Like A Hard Fart
I wish they had thrown that flag in the NFC title game. I wish this because the Rams’ Nickell Robey-Coleman committed obvious pass interference. But I also wish it because flagging the Rams on that play would have allowed Saints coach Sean Payton to blow the game on his own merits—something he was a...

Football coaches at Garden City Community College, a prominent junior college program in Kansas that has played in two of the last three NJCAA championship games, reportedly delayed for 25 minutes before contacting paramedics after finding 19-year-old Braeden Bradforth collapsed outside his dorm las...
Richie Incognito Will Get Work As Long As The NFL Mistakes Fear For Strength
Three teams worked out Richie Incognito during the 2014 NFL season. They probably could have used him, both because Incognito had by then become a pretty good NFL guard after an early career marked by bad penalties and bullshit and because teams wouldn’t invite a player in for a workout if they didn...
Calvin Johnson Puts Million Dollar Price Tag On Repairing His Relationship With The Lions
Lions president Rod Wood really, really, really wants Calvin Johnson to like his team again. Reconnecting with Megatron has become a top priority for him ever since the receiver unexpectedly retired in 2015. In Wood’s ideal world, Johnson would go the way of Barry Sanders where he’d eventually get o...
The Scummy Bucs Tried To Keep Secret Their Failed Attempt To Get Millions From The BP Oil Spill Settlement
This is old, but so what. The more we can talk about how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cooked their books in a failed attempt to claim settlement money from a far-off oil spill that didn’t actually affect them, the better. Turns out there’s one more twist to pass along: The Bucs sought to keep from publi...
Raiders Give Richie Incognito His, What, 50th Chance
Offensive lineman Richie Incognito, last with the Buffalo Bills, retired before the 2018 season and said his liver and kidneys were “shutting down.” Today the Oakland Raiders convinced him to return to football and take a one-year, prove-it deal. What that means is that if the signing doesn’t work o...
The Buccaneers Tried Accounting Tricks To Claim Money From The BP Oil Spill
This is something else: A federal appeals court rejected the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ attempt to secure nearly $20 million from a settlement fund designed to compensate victims of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, on the grounds that the Bucs tried to use some shady-ass accounting to justify their ...

On a Friday evening news dump just before the start of a holiday weekend, the Mt. Vernon Independent School district announced that it had hired ex-Baylor coach Art Briles to lead the Texas high school’s football team. Superintendent Jason McCullough said during a Facebook live session that the scho...
Adam Gase And The Jets Have Had A Crazy-Ass Week
It’s been a busy week or so for the Jets. Eight days have passed since general manager Mike Maccagnan was fired, after he had been kept on to lead such minor team-building exercises as the search for a head coach, a free-agency spending spree, and a draft in which the Jets possessed the No. 3 pick. ...
The NFL Is Apparently Determined To Screw Up The Hail Mary
The NFL this morning approved a rule change that could potentially allow coaches to challenge pass interference calls and non-calls in the last two minutes of a half or game. As with most tweaks to the league’s rulebook, this one’s likely going to create even more confusion. Are you ready for some H...

According to court documents that were unsealed this morning, Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu was the victim of an extortion plot carried out by one of his distant family members. The documents describe repeated threats made by Geourvon Sears to release allegedly damaging information about Mathieu unle...
Report: The Jets Are Hoping To Get Peyton Manning As Their New GM
Adam Gase’s promotion to interim general manager of the Jets might becoming to an end soon. The Jets seem to have realized that handing such an important position to someone just because they were more aggressive in a power struggle might not have been too smart, so they’re on the lookout for a perm...
The NFL Concussion Settlement Just Keeps Getting Worse And Worse
In what plaintiffs’ attorneys view as a total disaster, the federal judge overseeing the NFL concussion settlement on Thursday denied a motion to reconsider rules changes for physicians she had approved last month. Those changes, as noted earlier, stand to make it even more difficult for players to ...
The Time Dave McKenna Played Offensive Tackle
Our beloved colleague Dave McKenna tells good stories. He’s done a lot of cool shit, met many weird people in weird ways, and had his run-ins with the law. And after selfishly squirreling all his stories away in Slack and our brains for years, we’ve realized we have a societal obligation to share....
