Tennis Has A Bad Boy Again: Bernard Tomic Caught Wrestling A Dude In The Nude In A Hot Tub
Meet tennis's bad boy, Bernard Tomic! For those who don't know: Tomic is a handsome and talented 20-year old Australian who was going to have a spectacular 2012 and officially become tennis's next big thing. That absolutely did not happen. His ranking peaked bank in June at a very respectable No. 27 and has fallen all the way back to No. 49. He'll wind up with a lower ranking than last year's No. 42.
At the U.S. Open, he lost meekly to lame duck Andy Roddick, teed off in a press conference at a reporter (which made the media tennis establishment bonkers), and then was called a disgrace by Australian tennis legend Patrick Rafter (and "pathetic" by Patrick McEnroe).
All of which makes this the perfect time to get caught in the nude at 5:30 a.m. wrestling another naked dude in the hot tub on the balcony of a high-rise apartment. A witness said they looked like they were trying to kill each other. It's all very Australian. Also: he's being investigated for hooning. According to Wikipedia, this means driving your car like an ass (his $150,000 bright orange BMW).
Tomic has a ton of talent, and it's a shame that he is quite obviously not taking his tennis very seriously. Because tennis could actually use a bad boy! The Golden Era has been amazing, yes, but Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer have long been unfailingly polite to each other, and Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic keep all their rage on the court. In the post-Rafa/Roger era, tennis will need every naked guy it can get.
