Scott Kazmir’s best outing on the season and two Dodgers home runs added up to a 5-3 win for Los Angeles, which has taken the first two games of its home series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Kazmir‚ÄĒwho trends toward missing bats and the strike zone, and has never been an innings-eater‚ÄĒnearly went the distance, with Kenley Jansen stepping in to retire the game‚Äôs final batter on three pitches for his 13th save of the year. Kazmir‚Äôs record improves to 3-3. His counterpart Carlos Mart√≠nez struggled through five innings, allowing four earned runs while walking three in earning his third loss on the season; Jeremy Hazelbaker homered for the Redbirds in a pinch-hit appearance. The loss drops St. Louis to 19-18 on the season.

There’s always the next game!
