The Cardinals Lost Their 18th Game
Photo credit: Mark J. Terrill/ [object Object] Scott Kazmir’s best outing on the season and two Dodgers home runs added up to a 5-3 win for Los Angeles, which has taken the first two games of its home series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Kazmir—who trends toward missing bats and the strike zone, and has never been an innings-eater—nearly went the distance, with Kenley Jansen stepping in to retire the game’s final batter on three pitches for his 13th save of the year. Kazmir’s record improves to 3-3. His counterpart Carlos Martínez struggled through five innings, allowing four earned runs while walking three in earning his third loss on the season; Jeremy Hazelbaker homered for the Redbirds in a pinch-hit appearance. The loss drops St. Louis to 19-18 on the season.
There’s always the next game!
