Tommy Cutlets, we hardly knew ya

Giants head coach Brian Daboll announced on Wednesday that Tyrod Taylor will get the starting nod against the Rams this week over Tommy DeVito. Taylor saw action in the second half of the game against the Eagles on Monday, where the G-men lost, 33-10.
This may not be the end of the Cutlet saga in New York as a whole, but may be for the remainder of the season.
It is hard to discredit DeVito for all the good he has done so far this season. Coming in as the third-string QB, taking over for both Daniel Jones and Taylor, he won the first three of his four starts. He was an anomaly, the complete foil to what every expectation of an NFL quarterback falls into. He wasn’t highly scouted after his time in college, went undrafted, and signed as a free agent with the Giants.
Then he told the media he still lives at home, nine miles away from Metlife Stadium, where his mother can do his laundry and he can eat as many chicken cutlets for dinner as he wishes. It is truly a Cinderella story, or maybe more of a Cenerantola story.
Even though he was pulled at halftime on Monday, the fans will remember his performance and unwavering determination to help the Giants win. Even when the spotlight was on him as an undrafted rookie and all of the Italian-American Giants fans wanted to see him lead their favorite team to victory, he pulled it off. Even if it were too much to ask for the fantasy ride to last forever.
Taylor, who was drafted in 2011 to the Ravens, is 1-9 in the games he has appeared in this season. It will be his first substantial turn at commanding the offense since his rib injury in October against the Jets. In his career, he has a 61.4 completion rate and has thrown 63 touchdowns. His current QB rating is 46.1.
