Will Middlebrooks Injured By Stray Bat While Attempting To Catch Foul
Padres third baseman Will Middlebrooks left today’s game against the Diamondbacks in the seventh inning after his attempt to field a Cliff Pennington pop foul was interrupted by a abandoned bat in the on-deck circle.
Middlebrooks appeared to injure his ankle after slipping on the bat, presumably left by pitcher Chase Anderson who was due to bat next.
