MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced that Yuli Gurriel will be suspended for the first five games of the 2018 regular season for his “slant eyed” gesture in Game 3 of the World Series.


The decision to suspend Gurriel for the start of next season, and not for Game 4 of the World Series, probably reflects the fact that any suspension would be subject to an appeals process that might have delayed it until the start of next season, anyway.
