Yuli Gurriel Suspended Five Regular Season Games For Racist Gesture
Photo: David J. Phillip/ [object Object] MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced that Yuli Gurriel will be suspended for the first five games of the 2018 regular season for his “slant eyed” gesture in Game 3 of the World Series.
The decision to suspend Gurriel for the start of next season, and not for Game 4 of the World Series, probably reflects the fact that any suspension would be subject to an appeals process that might have delayed it until the start of next season, anyway. The MLBPA followed quickly behind the announcement of Gurriel’s suspension to announce that he will not be appealing the decision:
