It shouldn't go without a mention that Michelle Wie made the cut at a men's tournament for the first time this weekend. She finished tied for 35th, 12 shots back of your winner, Prom Meesawat of Thailand. No shame in losing to a guy named Prom when you're not old enough to go to one. And by the way, I'd love to stick an extra 't' in the middle of that guy's last name.
It was Wie's 8th stab at a men's tournament, and just the first time she made the cut. She posted rounds of 70 and 69 on Thursday and Friday, Saturday was rained out, and she finished with a disappointing 74 on Sunday. In all likelyhood, the only guy in the field who you might have heard of was KJ Choi, and it might even be a longshot with that one. So, no, she wasn't going up against a murderer's row of golfers, but you know... they're men, and she's a 16-year-old girl.
Up next for Wiezy is an attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open, later this month at Winged Foot.
