2025 NFL Week 13 Thanksgiving Betting Preview: Top NFL Bet Picks
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!
The NFL blessed us with a great slate of football games to bet on this Thanksgiving.
These are Deadspin's top betting picks for two of the 2025 NFL Thanksgiving games.
Packers vs. Lions
The Detroit Lions will host the Green Bay Packers in a Week 1 rematch. This game is wildly important for the NFC North. The Packers are 0.5 games ahead of the Lions, entering this game with a 7-3-1 record compared to a 7-4 record.
The biggest key to this game is the location. Detroit is going to have a massive edge at home, while Green Bay’s defense has struggled a bit on the road.
Overall, the Packers’ offense has traveled well. They’ve been better on the road, averaging 27.8 points per game. They’ve struggled defensively, though, allowing .378 points per play [compared to .231 at home].
The Lions are also an unbelievable team in Detroit. They rank third in the NFL in points per play (.549) at home. The Lions are also giving up only .284 points per play in Detroit, which is drastically less than their .437 average on the road.
This is a revenge spot for the Lions after the Packers handled them in Green Bay to start the season, and Detroit makes an elite option to “bounce back” on Thanksgiving.

Chiefs vs. Cowboys
It feels like a gift to be able to push on a field goal for Kansas City. They’re coming off an overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts, which generally turns into a letdown spot the next week. Dallas is coming off an even crazier comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles, suggesting they could be in the true letdown spot.
These are two explosive offenses, but the defenses are going to be the difference. The Chiefs have found plenty of defensive success this season, and that’s the reason they’re continually in games. The Cowboys haven’t found that success, and their defense is a major reason they continue to lose games.
Kansas City hasn’t lost a single game by more than one score, and we wouldn’t be getting this number if they had a slightly better record. The Chiefs are still playing for their season, as they’re sitting on a 6-5 record. We also saw Dallas with an unbelievable comeback against Philadelphia, forcing Kansas City to keep their foot on the gas throughout the entire game.
