Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was activated in time to make his season debut against the visiting Los Angeles Rams on Thursday.
Greenlaw has been sidelined since tearing his Achilles tendon in Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11.
He was injured when he began to run on to the field following a punt during the second quarter of the 49ers' 25-22 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas.
The 49ers (6-7) reside tied with the Arizona Cardinals in the cellar of the NFC West, one game behind the Rams (7-6) and two in back of the division-leading Seattle Seahawks.
Greenlaw, 27, was a fifth-round pick by San Francisco in the 2019 NFL Draft. He collected 120 tackles along with four passes defended, 1.5 sacks and four quarterback hits in 15 games last season.
San Francisco also has All-Pro defensive end Nick Bosa on the active roster. Bosa has missed the last three games because of hip and oblique injuries that he aggravated against the Seahawks on Nov. 17.
Bosa, Greenlaw and rookie running back Isaac Guerendo (foot sprain) were all listed as questionable but will be active.
The 49ers' inactives are All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) and safety Malik Mustapha (chest, shoulder) -- who already were ruled out -- as well as defensive lineman Khalil Davis (knee), quarterback Joshua Dobbs, running back Israel Abanikanda and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin.
The Rams' inactives are cornerback Cobie Durant, who already was ruled out because of a chest injury, as well as quarterback Stetson Bennett, running back Cody Schrader, outside linebacker Brennan Jackson and offensive linemen Dylan McMahon and Warren McLendon Jr.
