Week 5 of Dana White's Contender Series lands Tuesday, September 8, live from Meta APEX in Las Vegas on Paramount+ at 7:00 p.m. ET. This card is built almost entirely around finishers, with four of the five bouts featuring at least one fighter who has never seen the judges' table. Here's a full breakdown of every matchup and my picks.

Light Heavyweight: Quentin Pasley (3-0) vs. Arlind Berisha (5-0)

This featured bout on Week 5 pairs two undefeated finishers whose combined professional victories have all come in the first round. Berisha, out of Sweden's Fight Club Rush, brings a seven-fight combined win streak counting his amateur run and has never needed a second frame to close the show. Pasley, fighting out of Connecticut's Fighting Arts Academy, is dangerous in his own right but arrives with less depth of competition and has dealt with multiple ACL injuries that disrupted his development, including one that forced him off a previous Contender Series booking entirely. Berisha's more consistent activity and cleaner finishing sequences against tougher competition give him the edge in what should be an explosive opener.

Welterweight: Isaac Moreno (8-0) vs. Reginaldo Junior (11-1)

Moreno is a methodical, range-based striker with a karate background who has finished three straight opponents in the opening round, but he's stepping in on short notice for an original opponent, which is never ideal preparation. Junior, representing the well-regarded Fighting Nerds gym, rides a five-fight win streak and brings a deeper, more tested résumé into this matchup. The short-notice factor combined with Junior's superior camp pedigree and experience against tougher opposition should be the deciding variables here, especially if the fight extends into the second and third rounds where Moreno's karate-based footwork can be worn down by Junior’s pressure.

Middleweight: Martin Kozák (6-0) vs. Christian Echols (8-4)

Kozák enters unbeaten as both an amateur and a professional, having finished every one of his fights, including four by knockout, a rare level of consistency for a rising middleweight. Echols counters with real name-value, having scored a shocking knockout over touted wrestling prospect Patrick Downey in Bellator, plus a BJJ brown belt and a 100% finish rate in his own victories. But Echols' losses expose a pattern of struggling against well-rounded, disciplined opposition, and Kozák's technical polish and finishing habit at every stage of his career should be enough to solve Echols before his power or grappling ever fully materializes.

Bantamweight: Kwon Won-il (14-6) vs. Apollo Gomes (12-2)

This is the most experienced pairing on the card by total pro fights, and it favors durability and craft over explosive power. Won-il brings a deep 20-fight résumé from the South Korean, Asian circuits and even a showing on the Contender Series last season, giving him a wealth of championship-round experience that few Contender Series debutants can match. Gomes has a strong record of his own but has dealt with a no-contest and inconsistent output at times, and his ceiling still hasn't been tested against someone with Won-il's volume and durability. Expect Won-il's pace and cardio, built over a much longer career, to be the separating factor as the fight wears on.

Flyweight: Colton Loud (7-1) vs. Christian Natividad (9-0)

Natividad steps in on short notice, but his unblemished 9-0 record and reputation as "The Hawaiian Punch" suggest heavy hands that travel well regardless of preparation time. Loud is durable and has only tasted defeat once, but he hasn't faced a finisher with Natividad's power and precision in the flyweight division. The betting markets already lean toward Natividad despite the late replacement circumstances, a signal that his raw talent outweighs the disruption to his camp. His combination of power and composure should be enough to get through Loud's durability.
