Five-star small forward Bryson Howard, the son of former NBA All-Star Josh Howard, announced his commitment to Duke's 2026 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-5 prospect from Heritage High School in Frisco, Texas, is ranked No. 1 in the state, No. 4 at his position and No. 12 nationally by the 247Sports composite.

Appearing Tuesday on the CBS Sports College Basketball YouTube channel, Howard selected coach Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils over North Carolina and Kentucky.

"I loved my visit to Duke," Howard told ESPN. "I spent a lot of time with the coaches and players. We went to Coach Scheyer's house for dinner, and it felt like home."

Howard averaged 17.1 points and 10.2 rebounds in 37 games during his junior season of high school.

A strong outside shooter and versatile finisher, Howard will have a chance to contribute right away at Duke.

"When I attended practice, I saw that their style of play fits my game," he said. "The practice was very positive and full of energy, with a pace that was up and down. Coach Scheyer believes I will thrive in his system."

Josh Howard played 10 seasons in the NBA with four teams from 2003-13 after starring at Wake Forest. He made the All-Star team with the Dallas Mavericks in 2006-07 and retired with career averages of 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds in 507 games.
