Novak Djokovic Won Wimbledon, But Pet Poodle Pierre Wasn't There To See It
When Novak Djokovic wakes up tomorrow, he'll be the No. 1 ranked tennis player in the world and the 2011 Wimbledon champion, having defeated tomorrow's No. 2 ranked player Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
"It's really hard to describe this with words except as the most special day of my life," he said afterwards. "This is my favourite tournament, the one I always dreamed of winning, the one I watched when I was a child. It feels like I am still dreaming. When you're playing the best player in the world, who has won two of the last three Wimbledons, and he wins the big matches against me, I had to be on the top of my game and play probably my best match on grass ever."
Meanwhile, Pierre — the poodle for whom (which?) Djokovic unsuccessfully lobbied British officials to allow island entry — hasn't tweeted since June 26. Hope everything's OK.
