A Skeptical Press Forces Tim Tebow To Defend His Faith
The jaded New York press wasted little time at today's news conference in challenging Tim Tebow about the unconventional beliefs and practices he may bring to his new football team. But the newest Jets player stood his ground and professed his faith:
Q: Tim, there is a feeling that defenses in the NFL have caught up to the Wildcat a little bit. As someone that will be a big part of it here, do you still feel it can be viable option with how much the Jets anticipate using you?
A: Well, yeah, I think one misconception—people think the Wildcat is just a direct snap to a running back and you fake it and run power or outside zone or inside zone. I think that is a big misconception because when you have the ability to have 11 people touch the ball—not 11 people, but five or six people that have the opportunity to touch the ball on every play, then I think it can be confusing and can make defenses play slow. And when you have a great offensive coordinator like Coach Sparano that can put together packages and plays and not have tendencies, I think it can be effective.
