Add Providence To The Institutional Control Watchlist
Two Friars players were arrested early today for assaulting a fellow student. Why? Oh, the usual reasons. They were looking for someone to beat up, and he was the first person they came across.
You've got to feel bad for the victim. He's an exchange student from Kazakhstan, and an RA, so he probably had enough trouble making friends, before he crossed paths with freshmen James Still and Johnnie Lacy.
The players "said they were going to beat up the next male they saw," Ippolito said, reading from a police report. "The victim was just in the wrong place."
He said Yerkin Abdrakhmanov, 21, suffered a broken nose and eye socket, and other injuries, and was treated in Rhode Island Hospital.
A witness quickly pointed police to Still and Lacy, who were arrested and charged with felony assault. They've been suspended from both the team and the school. And suddenly: DePaul's not the most pathetic in the Big East!
