Peterson remained in county jail Monday, according to multiple reports.
The 2012 NFL Most Valuable Player and three-time rushing champion was taken into custody Sunday morning, Sugar Land police said.
It marks the second time Peterson, 40, was arrested on a suspected DWI this year. He was also booked in April by Minnesota State Patrol after attending the draft party of the Vikings, his longtime team.
Peterson's previous legal issues include allegations of child abuse and domestic violence as well as financial improprieties.
Peterson retired after the 2021 campaign with 14,918 rushing yards (the fifth-most in NFL history) and 120 touchdowns in 184 games with seven teams.
