All Pro Soccer In Argentina Suspended After Player Shoved Into Wall Dies
Emanuel Ortega, the player who was hospitalized after getting pushed into a wall, has died from his injuries. In light of this, the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino has suspended play in all divisions throughout the country.
The push, which you can see in the video above, wound up fracturing Ortega’s skull. He had been in the hospital since the incident occurred and passed away today.
From the AP:
“Everyone agreed to it,” said Luis Segura, president of the Argentine Football Association. “One shouldn’t play, out of respect for the magnitude of the tragedy. I don’t think anyone is in the mood to think about a football match.”
Segura deflected questions about stadium security and safety.
“Today is not the time to think about taking (safety) measures,” Segura said. “We’ll see afterward.”
Ortega was 21 years old.
