Angel City FC poured it on in the second half to produce a 4-0 win over the Chicago Stars in both teams' NWSL season opener on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Kennedy Fuller opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before Evelyn Shores, Ary Borges and Maiara Niehues added goals after halftime for Angel City (1-0-0, 3 points). Angelina Anderson made two saves on her way to the shutout.

Alyssa Naeher made just two saves for Chicago (0-1-0, 0 points) as the longtime U.S. women's national team goalkeeper let four by her.

Angel City controlled play with 59.7% of the total possession.

Fuller had an incredible individual effort for the first goal of the campaign. She kept her dribble as she entered the right side of the box before firing a low shot that Naeher was too slow to stop.

Fuller assisted Angel City's next goal with a corner kick in the 53rd minute. Shores put a perfect header on the kick and it arced over Naeher's reach to the far corner of the net.

Borges made it 3-0 in the 66th minute on a left-footed shot before Niehues added on four minutes later. Sveindis Jonsdottir ran out on a fast break and hit a centering pass to a trailing Niehues, wide open in the middle of the box for a one-timer.

Savy King subbed on for Angel City in the 63rd minute. The 21-year-old defender made her first appearance in a game since she collapsed during a game on May 9, 2025 and was later found to have a heart condition.
