Angels activate INF Brandon Drury, give Zach Plesac spot start

The Los Angeles Angels activated veteran infielder Brandon Drury from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's home game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Angels also scratched right-hander Jose Soriano from his scheduled start due to lower abdominal pain, selected the contract of right-hander Zach Plesac from Triple-A Salt Lake and gave Plesac the emergency start.
Drury was sidelined by a left hamstring strain he sustained against the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 8.
Drury, 31, is batting sixth and playing second base on Monday night. He is hitting just .173 in 30 games this season. He has one home run and six RBIs.
Drury hit 26 homers for the Angels last season, two shy of his career high set in 2022 when he split the season with the Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres.
Plesac, 29, spent five seasons with the Cleveland Guardians and went 26-27 with a 4.20 ERA in 83 starts plus one relief appearance. Monday marks his Angels debut; he is 3-7 with a 5.42 ERA in 13 starts for Salt Lake this year.
Los Angeles also designated left-hander Jose Suarez and infielder Cole Tucker for assignment.
Suarez, 26, is 1-2 with an 8.15 ERA in 18 appearances (one start) this season. The 27-year-old Tucker is batting .180 with three RBIs in 24 games this season.
