Another Giants-Dodgers Series, Another Fan Assault
Despite the heightened police presence at AT&T Park, a regular measure since Bryan Stow was beaten into a coma in Los Angeles last year, there was another incident over the weekend. Christopher Torii Smith, 26, was arrested after assaulting a fan in the bathroom during Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
He allegedly approached the 21-year-old victim on Sunday in a ballpark bathroom and began hitting him. The victim fell to the ground and Smith continued attacking him, Esparza said.
Smith then fled but officers spotted him and took him into custody in Lefty O'Doul Plaza. He was booked into jail on suspicion of battery, vandalism and public intoxication, Esparza said.
The victim suffered only ("Only." Leave it to LA-SF to bring out the moral relativism) a lacerated lip in the attack. Police haven't announced a motive, nor what everyone will care about: who was a fan of which team.
