Another Great Sideline Reporter Snafu
This image was lost some time after publication, but you can still view it [object Object] . This guy right here is Ryan Field. He is not to be confused with Ryan Field, the football stadium for the Northwestern Wildcats. Field is the sideline "reporter" for Fox Sports Detroit, and during last night's Detroit-NOOCH game, he "reported" on a flood in the NOOCH locker room.
Now, we've all seen a million sideline "reporters" out there, and experience tells us that anytime one of those guys is handed news that has the word "flood" and "Hornets" in the same sentence, well, it's a recipe for disaster.
Sure enough, foot met mouth, as Field compared the flood to the hurricane in New Orleans, saying "the Hornets having to leave their locker room in the same way they had to leave New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina." To be fair, he resisted making a joke that commissioner David Stern was woefully late it coming to rescue them, so that was nice.
