Astros add OF Chas McCormick; OF Kyle Tucker close

The American League West-leading Houston Astros placed outfielder Jake Meyers on the paternity list Monday and recalled Chas McCormick from Triple-A Sugar Land.
McCormick had been optioned to Triple-A on Thursday with the team's addition of the newly acquired Jason Heyward.
Also on Monday, The Athletic reported that outfielder Kyle Tucker could return as early as Wednesday after missing the past three months with a right shin injury. According to the report, Tucker had a shin fracture and not a contusion, as the team had characterized his injury.
Meyers, 28, is batting .226 with 12 home runs and 55 RBIs in 128 games. In 341 career games over four seasons, he is a .231 hitter with 29 home runs and 131 RBIs.
McCormick, 29, is batting .192 with five home runs and 24 RBIs in 87 games with the Astros this season. In 429 career games over four seasons, he is a .247 hitter with 55 home runs and 188 RBIs.
Tucker, 27, was batting .266 with 19 home runs and 40 RBIs in 60 games when he fouled a ball off his leg June 3. Named an All-Star in three consecutive seasons, Tucker is a career .272 hitter with 121 home runs and 408 RBIs in 615 games with Houston over the past seven seasons.
The Astros entered play Monday with a six-game division lead on the Seattle Mariners and at 75-62 had the fourth-best record in the American League.
