Auburn Loses Anfernee McLemore With Horrific Ankle Injury
Auburn sophomore forward Anfernee McLemore suffered a grotesque injury late in the first half of the Tigers’ SEC matchup at South Carolina just days after putting up one of the best performances of his career. Warning: the video is graphic.
McLemore led the tenth-ranked, 23-3 Auburn team to a 76-66 win over Kentucky Wednesday with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and had already gathered five boards against the Gamecocks before the freak injury that appears to have snapped his ankle.
We’ll stay tuned for injury updates, but the video pretty much speaks for itself. It’s incredibly heartbreaking for a kid who has been having a great season and has been fun to watch on a team that’s surprised pretty much everyone but coach Bruce Pearl.
