Auburn star Johni Broome sustains shoulder injury

Auburn forward/center Johni Broome, one of the top players in the country, injured his right shoulder two minutes into the second-ranked Tigers' home game against Georgia State on Tuesday night.
Broome sat out the remainder of Auburn's 100-59 victory, and it is uncertain if he will miss additional time.
Coach Bruce Pearl said postgame that Broome is doubtful for the Tigers' Saturday game against No. 16 Purdue in Birmingham, Ala.
"Obviously, his right shoulder kind of came out. Came right back," Pearl said. "He did it a year ago, so he's had some experience with it. We'll take a look at it (Wednesday) and tell you more, but we hope he's going to be OK."
After making a layup at one end of the court and blocking a shot at the other, Broome was subbed out for Chaney Johnson. He left for the locker room and during a media timeout, he was seen on the bench in a hoodie with ice on his right shoulder.
Broome later returned to the bench with his right arm in a sling.
Johnson would start against the Boilermakers if Broome is unavailable, Pearl said.
Entering play Tuesday, the 6-foot-10 fifth-year player was leading the country with 12.7 rebounds per game, and he led the Southeastern Conference with 2.8 blocks per contest. He was second in the SEC in scoring (19.7 ppg) while also averaging 3.8 assists per game.
