August 20th MLB Picks: Top Wednesday Betting Predictions and Prop Bets
The Wednesday MLB card is loaded with action all day, offering plenty of player and team props to choose from. The game of the night takes place at Wrigley Field, where the Chicago Cubs host the Milwaukee Brewers in an NL Central showdown.
Here are three MLB betting picks for Wednesday, Aug. 20 (odds via DraftKings).
Rays F5 (-125) vs. Yankees
The Tampa Bay Rays returned home Tuesday from a 12-game road trip and were routed by the New York Yankees, 13-3. They’ll look to bounce back Wednesday behind right-hander Drew Rasmussen.
Rasmussen has been one of the most reliable pitchers in the first five innings this season, going 15-5-4 overall. At home, he has not trailed through five innings in his last eight starts, posting a 5-0-3 mark.
Meanwhile, Yankees rookie Cam Schlittler has failed to lead through five innings in four straight outings. His shortest start of the season came against Tampa Bay, when he lasted just 4.1 innings in a home loss.
The edge goes to Tampa Bay early.

Athletics (+101) at Twins
The Minnesota Twins waved the white flag at the trade deadline and have stumbled since, losing 6-3 to the Athletics on Tuesday. Minnesota has dropped seven of its last 10 games and is 0-10 in Bailey Ober’s last 10 starts, including six straight at Target Field.
Oakland sends out J.T. Ginn, who has been far more effective on the road (3.29 ERA) than at home (6.75 ERA). The A’s have also won nine of their last 11 road games dating back to July 24.
With Minnesota sliding and Ober struggling, Oakland offers value as a road underdog.

Shohei Ohtani Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-110) vs. Rockies
Shohei Ohtani has delivered back-to-back strong outings for the Los Angeles Dodgers, striking out eight against St. Louis and seven against the Angels. But Wednesday’s matchup with Colorado may not be as favorable.
The Rockies have quietly limited opposing pitchers in recent weeks. They struck out only seven times against Emmet Shehan on Tuesday, marking just the third time in their last 11 games that a starter has gone over his strikeout prop.
Six of the last eight right-handed pitchers to face Colorado have finished with five or fewer strikeouts. That trend makes Ohtani’s under a sharp play.
