Bad Dad Of The Week
This image was lost some time after publication. Far be it from us to pass judgment on the quality of child rearing in individual sports, but for all the Jim Pierces and Marv Marinoviches of the world, we think we have a new winner in the Worst Dad contest. Though we suppose that depends on your perspective.
Meet Christophe Fauviau. The father of 15-year-old Valentine Fauviau is current on trial for drugging his childrens' tennis rivals right before they played his daughter. That would be bad enough — the total he's accused of drugging is 21 — but in July 2003, one of them collapsed after a match against son Maxime while driving his car home ... and died.
Fauviau is a former member of the French army, which officially marks him as the first French soldier to ever kill anyone. (Sorry.) Somewhere, Marv Marinovich is kicking himself; Drug the OTHER guy. Totally makes sense! I got that totally backwards.
