Myers (2-2) walked three and struck out five to record his second career win in his seventh career start. The lone hit off Myers was Matt Vierling's leadoff single in the bottom of the first. In his major league debut, Milwaukee's James Meeker yielded one hit in the ninth to make it a combined two-hitter.
Brice Turang had four of Milwaukee's 16 hits while scoring two runs and driving in two more. Blake Perkins supplied three hits, three runs and two RBIs. Christian Yelich went 3-for-3, Joey Ortiz and William Contreras drove in two runs apiece and the Brewers snapped a three-game losing streak.
Detroit starter Reese Olson (1-7) was rocked for eight runs and 12 hits in four innings in the opener of a three-game series. For the second consecutive game, utility player Zach McKinstry finished the game on the mound.
The Brewers grabbed control with a five-run second inning. Sal Frelick got it going with a leadoff single and moved to third on Rhys Hoskins' double. One out later, Ortiz knocked in both runners with a single to center.
Perkins made it 3-0 with a triple to right field and Turang brought him home with an opposite-field single. Turang advanced to third on a two-out single by Yelich. When Yelich successfully stole second, it allowed Turang to steal home.
Milwaukee had six hits in the fourth to extend its lead to 8-0. Ortiz led off with a single but was thrown out at third on a single by Perkins. Turang doubled to right to put runners in scoring position.
Contreras then ripped a double to left, bringing home both runners. Contreras moved to third on another Yelich single and scored on Frelick's RBI hit.
With Beau Brieske on the mound for Detroit, the Brewers scored two more runs in the fifth. Jake Bauers drew a leadoff walk and scored on Perkins' triple to center. Turang gave Milwaukee a double-digit advantage with an RBI single.
