Belgium National Soccer Team Cancels Training After Terrorist Attacks In Brussels

In light of the terrorist bombings today targeting the Brussels Airport and a local metro station, the Belgian national team, assembled in the country’s capital ahead of an international friendly against Portugal, has canceled their scheduled training session:

The Portugal match, scheduled to be held in Brussels’s King Baudouin Stadium next Tuesday, is presumably now under review as to whether it will still go on.

Norwich City striker and Congo international Dieumerci Mbokani happened to be in the Brussels Airport at the time of the bombings. From the :

City say the 30-year-old was “unharmed but shaken”. Norwich added that Mbokani had returned home to be with his family, and the club remain in constant dialogue with him.
