Best MLB Bets for Saturday May 10th: Top Picks and Predictions

Are you sending Mom flowers for Mother’s Day but wish you had a little extra cash to upgrade to a bigger bouquet? There’s a full slate of MLB games on deck this afternoon with plenty of betting opportunities, which we’ve organized into our “Best MLB Bets” list.

No guarantees, of course, but if you play your cards right, maybe you can take her to brunch, too … I’m just saying.

Philadelphia Phillies (-1.5) vs. Cleveland Guardians (+106), o/u 7.5

Ranger Suárez got destroyed in his first start back from injury last week, giving up seven runs in 3 2/3 innings for an ERA of 17.18. Milwaukee’s lineup will get a much-needed confidence boost against him.

Bibee has done well in limited action vs. the Phillies lineup, but Philadelphia is hitting .292 over the last week. If the total were higher, I’d probably say pass on this one, but since it’s just 7.5 runs...

OVER 7.5 at -115 (BetMGM)

Texas Rangers (-1.5) vs. Detroit Tigers (-102), o/u 7.5

Jacob deGrom (2.61 ERA) has been pitching well of late, allowing just four runs across his last four outings. Jack Flaherty has been throwing well (3.79 ERA) despite his record (1-4). DeGrom will mute Detroit’s offense, and Flaherty will keep Texas’ struggling offense in check.

UNDER 7.5 at -115 (FanDuel)

Boston Red Sox (-118) vs. Kansas City Royals (+1.5), o/u 7.5

Both offenses are accustomed to producing but will find it challenging to do so against the starting pitchers. Boston starter Garrett Crochet (2.02 ERA) has allowed more than two runs in just one outing this season. Cole Ragans has a 3.79 ERA and pitched five scoreless innings in his last outing.

UNDER 7.5 at -125 (DraftKings)

San Diego Padres (-200) vs. Colorado Rockies (+1.5), o/u 11.5

Padres starter Stephen Kolek was not scored on in his season debut last Sunday, throwing 5 1/3 innings and giving up four hits and no runs. Colorado is going with Bradley Blalock and his 8.03 ERA. The Rockies have lost seven in a row, while the Padres have won seven of their last nine.

It’s tempting to go with a same-game parlay here with the Padres -1.5 and the over with how this pitching matchup looks, but 11.5 is pretty high. Stick with the Padres run line.

Cincinnati Reds (+1.5) vs. Houston Astros (-138), o/u 8

Neither team has a high-powered offense on its best days, but Houston’s is playing well over the last week (4.67 runs per game), while the Reds are struggling (.197 BA, 2.3 runs per game over the last week).

Cincinnati’s best chance to get ahead in this one may come early while Lance McCullers Jr. is still in the game. He made his return last week but got pulled after just 3 2/3 innings. But an early pull may actually work in Houston’s favor since their pen has one of the best ERAs in the league (2.73).
