Blogdom's Best: Miami Dolphins
This image was lost some time after publication. It might not — yet — have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NFL and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. To this end, Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom's Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each NFL team. There are fewer than there are for baseball, but they're out there, if you look. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours, even) for selection, just let us know at [email protected]. Today: The Miami Dolphins.
We admit it, we're a little envious. How great it must be to be a Dolphins fan. You've got your shirtsleeve weather, your nice stadium, and a team that's competitive most of the time, with a great tradition — that undefeated season in '72 is something no one else has in their trophy case. OK, some of you guys are a little nutty (TheDolphinsMakeMeCry). Some, quite obviously insane (Dave's Bitchin' Look at the Dolphins). But it all makes for interesting reading; really, can one be surprised that South Florida is one of the most colorful spots in the NFL blogosphere? It is our belief that sometime in the distant future, when we humans have finally made an irretrievable mess of things here on Earth, that dolphins will rise and become the dominant species. It was tough narrowing a slew of excellent Dolphins blogs to only three, and we hope we have not angered our future overlords with our selections. 3. Phin Fever All that a blog should be, with daily postings, great news selection and original writing. Part of the growing Football Rivals Network. 2. Phins.com. Doesn't look like much until you get into the content, the opposite of the NFL itself when you think about it. 1. Finheaven & Co. Everything a Dolphins fan could ever want, including the Dolphins' 1972 schedule and roster. Did you know that their third-string QB that year was Jim Del Gaizo? Sweet.
