Blues escape two-goal hole, down Oilers to end skid

Mandatory Credit: Jeff Curry-Imagn Images Pius Suter scored the winning goal with 1:23 left as the St. Louis Blues edged the visiting Edmonton Oilers 3-2 Monday night to snap a seven-game winless streak.
Robert Thomas had a goal and an assist for the Blues after missing the previous four games with an upper-body injury. Rookie Dalibor Dvorsky scored his first NHL goal and Jordan Binnington made 24 saves, who went 0-5-2 in their previous seven contests.
St. Louis rallied after trailing 2-0 midway through the game.
Jack Roslovic and Andrew Mangiapane scored for the Oilers, who went 4-2-1 in their prior seven games. Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins earned two assists apiece, and Calvin Pickard stopped 19 shots.
Suter scored the winning goal by converting the rebound of Parayko's slap shot from the center point.
The Blues controlled much of the first period while keeping the Oilers in check at even strength. Thomas generated St. Louis' best scoring chance, but Pickard denied his wraparound bid.
The Oilers finally broke through by capitalizing on a power play late in the first period. McDavid got a cross-crease pass through to Roslovic, who scored from point-blank range to put Edmonton up 1-0.
That assist was McDavid's 1,100th career point.
Edmonton increased its lead to 2-0 at the 2:27 mark of the second period after Mangiapane triggered an Oilers breakout by blocking Colton Parayko's slap shot. McDavid led a 4-on-2 rush and fed Nugent-Hopkins, whose cross-ice pass to the right wing set up Mangiapane's goal.
The Blues cut the deficit to 2-1 with a power-play goal with 3:52 left in the second period. From the center point, Justin Faulk set up Dvorsky for his one-time blast from the right circle.
Thomas tied the game 2-2 with 1:22 left in the middle period after Philip Broberg's errant shot caromed off the end boards to him on the weak side. Thomas scored into the open side of the net before Pickard could get over.
