Jordan Binnington stopped 18 shots for his 14th career shutout as the St. Louis Blues blanked the Washington Capitals 3-0 on Saturday in the back half of a home-and-home series.

The Blues avenged their 5-2 loss to the Capitals on Thursday night in Washington D.C.

Brayden Schenn scored his 250th career goal for the Blues, who snapped their 0-2-1 winless streak. Colton Parayko and Jake Neighbours also scored for St. Louis and Robert Thomas had two assists.

The Blues killed off three Washington power plays and scored a short-handed goal.

Charlie Lindgren made 26 saves for the Capitals, who began a four-game road trip against Western Conference teams on a sour note.

The Blues outshoot the Capitals 12-5 in the first period while taking a 1-0 lead.

Parayko put the Blues ahead 2:37 into the game with his first career short-handed goal. He broke up the right wing on a two-on-two rush and snapped a shot past Lindgren's glove hand and inside the left post.

St. Louis kept the upper hand for most of the second period, too, and doubled its lead to 2-0.

The Blues scored with Binnington off the ice for an extra attacker during a delayed penalty on Washington. St. Louis sustained control in the Capitals' zone before Justin Faulk set up Schenn's one-time blast from the right circle with a pass from the center point.

Schenn has six points in his last six games after failing to register a point in his previous 12 games.

During a Washington power play later in the second period, Binnington made several tough saves — including one on Alexander Ovechkin's one-time shot moving in from the left circle.

Neighbours made it 3-0 with a power-play goal with 4:09 left to play by driving to the net and deflecting a Thomas point shot past Lindgren.
