Boxer Jermain Taylor Ordered To Undergo Mental Evaluation
Middleweight boxer Jermain Taylor, the current IBF middleweight champion, has been ordered to undergo an evaluation at a state mental hospital by an Arkansas judge, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. This order comes on the heels of two sets of criminal charges being brought against Taylor, who has been behaving very strangely on social media lately.
Taylor pleaded not guilty to first-degree battery and first-degree terroristic threatening charges that were brought after Taylor's cousin was shot at Taylor's house in August. Last week, Taylor was charged with aggravated assault and endangering a minor after allegedly opening fire and threatening to shoot a family at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade in Little Rock, Ark.
Shortly after that incident, Taylor posted the video above on Facebook, in which he, while sitting in a bathtub, apologizes for the incident at the parade and also complains about how the parade organizers did not provide his daughter with any candy. A few hours later, he posted another video, in which he semi-coherently rambles with a woman he refers to as his girlfriend:
Speaking to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Taylor's lawyer said, "Everybody is saying this isn't the Jermain Taylor they know. We're trying to figure out who the heck it is."
