Mandatory Credit: Matt Blewett-Imagn Images Brad Stuver stopped seven of the eight shots he faced, including an onslaught over the final 20 minutes of the match as visiting Austin FC held on for a 1-1 draw with Minnesota United on Saturday in a Western Conference match in St. Paul, Minn.
Austin (5-6-4, 19 points) is 0-1-3 in league play since losing to Minnesota on May 3 and has gone six straight MLS matches without a victory.
The Loons (7-3-5, 26 points), meanwhile, have won three of their past five MLS matches.
Both sides peppered the goal in the first half, recording three shots on target each. The barrage started early on as Austin's Brandon Vazquez tested Loons keeper Dayne St. Clair just four minutes into the match and was countered in the sixth minute when Robin Lod forced a save from Stuver.
Minnesota broke through in the 16th minute as Michael Boxall went to the near post to head home a pass from Nicolas Romero on a play that began with a corner kick by Joaquin Pereyra.
Austin wasted little time producing the equalizer. Osman Bukari started the scoring play with a counterattacking run from the defensive end, drawing defenders toward him as he reached the outside of the penalty area.
Bukari got the ball to Myrto Uzuni, who took control of it. Uzuni then got it to trailing Zan Kolmanic, who beat St. Clair low to his right side, tying the match at 1-1 in the 27th minute.
Bukari forced a save from St. Clair in the 42nd minute and Uzuni wasted a wonderful opportunity to put the Verde on top a minute later when he missed the goal to the right.
Pereyra had a scoring chance in the 54th minute that was easily saved by Stuver.
Bongokuhle Hlongwane clanged a shot off the crossbar in the 75th minute and Kelvin Yeboah and Carlos Harvey also had shots on goal in the 82nd and 83rd minutes, respectively, but the Austin keeper was up to the task.
