Mandatory Credit: Katie Stratman-Imagn Images The Milwaukee Brewers took steps to bolster their playoff pitching staff, activating right-handed closer Trevor Megill and left-handed reliever DL Hall off the injured list Sunday prior to the final regular-season game against the visiting Cincinnati Reds.
Megill, with a team-high 30 saves in 36 opportunities, had been sidelined since Aug. 24 with a right flexor strain. Hall, 1-0 with a 3.35 ERA in 19 appearances, including 16 out of the bullpen, has been out since Aug. 15 with a right oblique injury.
To make room, right-hander Carlos Rodriguez was optioned to the rookie ACL Brewers and veteran right-hander Erick Feddie was designated for assignment.
Milwaukee (96-65) won the NL Central and has clinched the No. 1 overall seed with the best record in the majors for homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. The Brewers will be idle until the first game of the NLDS on Saturday, Oct. 4. Cincinnati (83-78) entered Sunday's game tied with the Mets for the final N.L. Wild Card spot. The Reds hold the tie-breaker over the Mets, who were at Miami.
